JAMES NESBITT
Jamie Nesbitt is an award-winning designer, producer, and arts leader with a career spanning over two decades across North America and Europe. He has led large teams of artists in the creation of ambitious theatrical works and has produced and designed for major festivals, opera houses, and theatres internationally. Jamie has worked with companies including the Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, Canadian Stage, National Arts Centre, Soulpepper, Vancouver Playhouse, Theatre Calgary, and the Charlottetown Festival, as well as international engagements with Palazzo Circus (Berlin), Kidd Pivot (Germany/Canada), and Company XIV (New York).
As a former artistic director and company founder, Jamie has successfully steered a theatre company through critically acclaimed productions, managing all aspects of creative development and operations. His producing credits span site-specific works, large-scale spectacles, and innovative cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Jamie is a graduate of Studio 58 and a multiple award recipient, including 3 Jessie Awards (with 9 nominations), 2 Betty Mitchell Awards (6 nominations), 2 Critter Awards (3 nominations), a Capitol Critics Circle Award, and nominations for both the Sterling and Betty Mitchell Awards. He is also a past recipient of the 2008 Mayor's Arts Award, the 2007 Sam Payne Award, and the 2006 Earl Klein Memorial Scholarship.
