Artists Statement
26 reasons why we love living on the coast. This new body of work is inspired by seeing children grow up on the coast and the magic they find in its waters and woods.
The theme of the show is also influenced by Eleanor’s connections with the Yukon. The title is inspired by the famed Robert W. Service poem, The Spell of the Yukon. In this case, “Spell” has a double meaning because each of the paintings is connected to a letter in the English alphabet. Can you tell which one is which?
The Spell of the Coast exhibition runs from August 4 – August 30 at the Hearth Gallery on Bowen Island, BC. Opening reception on Saturday August 7 from 6-8 pm
