MERGE: wilderness within

“My work is inspired by the special places that feed the soul. These are spaces where the magic of the senses and deep connection take over. My hope is that we may forge deeper relationships with the land and our fellow beings.”
— Sally Podmore

SALLY PODMORE - ARTIST STATEMENT

Sally Podmore’s work examines the connection between the human experience and the healing resilience of natural spaces. Through her paintings, Podmore explores the narratives between place, memory, and the natural world.

Her study of space is an extension of her studies in Geography and Intercultural Education; it is rooted in the understanding of landscape both as an encounter and the source of deep personal and cultural significance.

With acrylic on canvas. Podmore constructs and explores the movement, texture, and energy of organic forms and landscapes real or imagined. Compositions are created deliberately through many layers of richly saturated colours, bringing to life spaces animated with emotional and transcendent meaning. Deliberate use of scale invites the viewer to experience a sense-memory
of place.

Her work is an expression of change, renewal, and growth; a window to a sacred wilderness within.
