Dehcho: River Journey

On June 21, for National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada
THEATRE OF FIRE
DEHCHO: RIVER JOURNEY. This performance carries the audience on a musical journey along the Mackenzie River, from Virginia Falls in the south to the shores of the Arctic Ocean. Two hosts — Dene poet Shaznay Waugh from Fort Simpson and Gwich’in writer Arlyn Charlie from Teetl’it Zheh (Fort McPherson) — express the toll that climate change is taking on their land.

Disability and Healing Landscapes
June 4th - 23rd
This exhibition explores the experience of disability, and a disabled person’s view of and engagement with the natural landscape. Artist Raghavendra Rao K.V. is a multidisciplinary, practicing visual artist originally from Bangalore, India, and currently living and working on Bowen Island/Nex̱wlélex̱wm, BC. His practice integrates public art, multi-media work, painting and graphic design. He taught at the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, in Bangalore, India for over 15 years.

The View: Written by David Cameron
A Supernatural Sex-farce
Bowen's own Kingbaby Theatre is reviving its hit show, The View. In this original, full length summer comedy, Kenneth and Debra, newcomers to the Island confront their neighbors about a tree that is blocking their view.
Starts at 7:30 There will be one 10 minute intermission followed by a short second Act. Adult Themes.

This exhibition gathers works from the past two and a half years exploring memory, spirituality, and transformation. Through themes like magical realism, inner worlds, and human connection, each series invites contemplation. The paintings open quiet spaces for reflection, where the invisible becomes visible and the unspoken finds form. See the newest works by artist Pepe Hidalgo at the Hearth Gallery, Bowen Island.

In Di and Gloag’s second exhibition at The Hearth on Bowen Island the artists seek to immerse viewers in moments of quiet inspiration within the natural world. By reflecting on connections to land and sea, and by returning to nature through experience and thought, we can all seek to better understand our place within the ecosystem.
