WHEN THE IMAGE SUBSTITUTES THE WORD

Four Narratives About Art, Mystery, and Human Experience

By Artist Pepe Hidalgo

This exhibition brings together works created over the past two and a half years, focused on themes such as memory, spirituality, and transformation.

In “Egyptian Influence,” I seek calm through simplicity, using a palette of pale, golden, and ochre tones that evoke the eternal.

The “Conquest of the West” addresses present-day tensions through magical realism, reflecting on the consequences of violence without resorting to direct denunciation.

“To See the Invisible and Hear the Unspoken” explores the intangible and the inner world, drawing inspiration from the Akashic records and everything that cannot always be named.

In “Invite a Stranger to Your Home,” I reflect on trust, hospitality, and the emotional risk involved in opening our intimate space to another. The series raises questions about the boundaries of home, human connection, and vulnerability.

Each work invites a slow gaze, to listen to what is not said, and to open a space for intimate dialogue between the painting and the viewer
